Srinagar, Sep 30 (KNS): Expressing solidarity with the MBB students , agitating over the JK Government's recent decision to participate in All India Quota ( AIQ) for admission to MBB and PG courses under NEET, Chairman People's Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Yaseen has said that the move would be detrimental and disadvantageous to the interests and career of aspiring candidates of Jammu and Kashmir. He said Jammu and Kashmir being an socially and educationally backward area, its medical students have limited sources of education and scientific exposure.
In a statement issued on Thursday Hakeem Yaseen said that the decision of the government to the pool 15% of its MBBS seats in All India Quota ( AIQ) and 50% seat sharing for PG Medical courses under NEET would jeopardize and badly impact the future prospects and career of the students of Jammu and Kashmir .
Hakeem Yaseen has urged the government to roll back its decision and reserve all its seats for local students and opt out of AIQ. He said that participating in AIQ for MBB and PG seats would further choke the already scant employment avenues for JK youth, which was contrary to the tall claims of the Central and UT governments about providing ample job opportunities to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. He said, beyond any doubt, participation in AIQ would certainly prove detrimental to the interests of JK youth.
PDF Chairman has asked the centre to meet the urges and aspirations of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir which was imperative to remove prevailing alienation among them towards the mainstream.
Hakeem Yaseen has cautioned the Centre that participaiom in the AIQ for MBBS and MD courses, at this crucial juncture, would be against the overall socio- political interests of the country. (KNS)
