Srinagar, Jul 27 (KNS): The Hajj registration process for 2027 has concluded in Jammu and Kashmir with a total of 4,693 applications received across all 20 districts of the Union Territory, official figures show.
Srinagar district emerged as the top contributor, accounting for nearly one-fourth of the total registrations with 1,152 enrolments. Baramulla secured the second position with 595 applications, followed by Anantnag (420), Budgam (404), and Pulwama (361).
Among other districts, Kupwara registered 323 enrolments, while Kulgam (265), Shopian (180), and Ganderbal (144) also recorded notable participation. Bandipora (124), Jammu (106), and Poonch (101) crossed the 100-mark.
The remaining districts reported comparatively lower figures, including Doda (85), Ramban (54), Udhampur (50), Samba (46), Reasi (38), Kathua (36), and Kishtwar (35).

The data reflects strong participation from the Kashmir Valley, which together accounted for the bulk of the registrations. The total number of applicants falls significantly short of the Union Territory's expected quota of 7,981 pilgrims, officials said.
According to J&K Hajj Committee Executive Officer Shujaat Ahmad, the applications include 2,566 men and 2,125 women, with 24 women applying under the Ladies Without Mahram (LWM) category and 620 senior citizens aged above 65 years.
The final quota allocation will be determined by the Hajj Committee of India in accordance with the Hajj policy, following scrutiny of all applications as per guidelines from the Ministry of Minority Affairs. (KNS)
