Kargil, April 13 (KNS): Former Chairman J&K Legislative Council and Senior BJP Leader Ladakh, Haji Anayat Ali urged the Ladakh UT Governor, RK Mathur to make necessary arrangements for bringing back thousands of stranded residents stuck in Srinagar, Jammu , Delhi and various other parts of the country.
He stressed the fact that the situation of the stranded residents are dire as most are either elderly aged residents who are not used to the humid summer heat waves of the plains or are students and most are outside Ladakh either due to health reasons and to avoid the severe winter complications of their native places.
He also stressed the fact that most residents are staying in rent accommodations especially students with temporary arrangements for 3-4 months and cannot prolong their stay on account of innumerable reasons and most have exhausted their recourses with each day adding to their woes.
He also urged government to formulate a time bound strategy to evacuate the stranded residents before the holy month of Ramadan as statistically most of the residents are Covid negative up untill now and would be much safer in Ladakh owing to the successful containment measures of the government there.
He further urged the Governor to look into the matter and grievances of Non Covid patients in District Hospital Kargil who owing to the lack of proper facilities needed to be referred to SKIMS Soura Hospital, Srinagar for treatment. But currently several patients are in critical condition and proper arrangements in this regard needs to be taken on an urgent basis on humanitarian ground. Similar is also the condition of some patients already treated in SKIMS Soura Srinagar.
Haji Anayat Ali also said that essential goods and commodities vehicles are as per government of India directive not hindered from movement anywhere in the country and Ladakh should also have unhindered movement of essential goods and commodities vehicles under necessary supervision. He stressed that the people of Ladakh are living on thin air for the past six months and there is a huge shortage of medicines and essential commodities and merely allowing 5 or 10 trucks will not serve any purpose but will add to more grievances of the public as preferential treatment will surely become the norm.
He further added that people were assured of keeping the zojila open in winter last year due to which many refrained from stocking essentials hence this has further complicated the woes.(KNS)
