Gulmarg odd-even vehicle curbs from July 5, says GDA

Ready

Srinagar, Jun 30 (KNS) : The Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) on Tuesday ordered a pilot odd-even scheme for all four-wheelers entering the famous hill resort, effective July 5, in a move to ease traffic congestion and curb pollution during the peak tourist season.

As per GDA Order No. 28 of 2026 accessed news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), private and commercial vehicles with registration numbers ending in odd digits (1,3,5,7,9) will be allowed entry only on odd calendar dates, while those with even-ending numbers (0,2,4,6,8) will be permitted on even dates. The restrictions will apply daily from 8 AM to 8 PM, with freight and goods vehicles exempted.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The pilot will remain in force till August 5, during which the traffic police, civil police, and motor vehicles department will monitor its impact on traffic flow, environmental quality, and tourist convenience, the order said.

"All enforcement agencies have been directed to extend necessary cooperation for smooth implementation," the GDA said.

The decision comes as Gulmarg continues to draw heavy tourist footfall, often leading to gridlocks and parking woes. Authorities will review the month-long data before taking a final call on extending the measure. (KNS)
