Srinagar, June 30 (KNS): Under the auspices of the Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharie Shian, mourning assemblies (Majalis-e-Aza), Alam processions, and Zuljanah processions were held across various parts of the Kashmir Valley on the 14th of Muharram with deep religious devotion, solemnity, and exemplary organization.
Thousands of mourners commemorated the supreme sacrifice of Imam Husayn (AS), paying rich tribute to the martyrs of Karbala and reaffirming their commitment to the universal message of Ashura.
The largest Zuljanah procession of the day was taken out from Punchgund in Beerwah, Budgam district, drawing tens of thousands of mourners who participated with remarkable discipline, religious fervour, and reverence. Prior to the procession, a Majlis-e-Aza was held at the Punchgund Imambara, where Hujjat-ul-Islam Agha Syed Mujtaba Abbas Mousavi Al-Safavi addressed the gathering. He stated that Ashura is not merely a tragic episode in history but an eternal manifesto of divine guidance, justice, steadfastness, and the salvation of humanity. He emphasized that the unparalleled sacrifice of Imam Husayn (AS) continues to inspire every generation to stand firmly against oppression and falsehood, making Karbala a timeless beacon of guidance for humanity.
In his address, Agha Syed Mujtaba Abbas Mousavi Al-Safavi observed that human life is inherently a series of trials through which faith, patience, and spiritual resilience are tested. Referring to the teachings of the Holy Qur'an, he said that true success lies in remaining steadfast during hardships and maintaining unwavering allegiance to the divinely appointed leadership. Drawing a parallel between the Ark of Prophet Nuh (AS) and the movement of Imam Husayn (AS), he explained that just as the Ark of Nuh became the means of salvation from the flood, the "Safina-e-Husayn" remains the eternal vessel safeguarding humanity from misguidance, moral decline, and the tribulations of every age.
Highlighting the significance of Wilayah, he stated that attaining true proximity to Allah is impossible without firm adherence to the Holy Qur'an and the Ahl al-Bayt (AS).Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe urged the faithful to strengthen their relationship with Imam al-Mahdi (AJTF), stressing that the fundamental lesson of Ashura is to recognize and remain steadfastly loyal to the Imam of one's time. Referring to the unparalleled devotion of Imam Husayn's (AS) companions on the night of Ashura, he described their sacrifice as the highest example of faith, loyalty, and obedience to Allah, setting a model for believers in every era.
Concluding his address, Agha Syed Mujtaba Abbas Mousavi Al-Safavi said that the mourning of Imam Husayn (AS) should not be reduced to a mere ritual or emotional expression. Rather, its true purpose is to cultivate spiritual growth, moral refinement, and a practical commitment to the values of the Holy Qur'an and the Ahl al-Bayt (AS). He emphasized that if Azadari transforms an individual's character, thought, and way of life while drawing them closer to the Qur'an and the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), it truly reflects the universal message of Ashura.
Following the conclusion of the Majlis, the grand Zuljanah procession commenced from the Punchgund Imambara. Tens of thousands of mourners participated with profound devotion, exemplary discipline, and religious reverence. The procession peacefully traversed its designated route before concluding.
On the occasion of the 14th of Muharram, the Anjuman Sharie Shian also organized Alam and Zuljanah processions in several other areas across the Valley, including Haft Chinar Magam to Yagipora Imambara, Magam (Gulmarg Road), Mamgund, Bona Hama (Beerwah Tehsil), Labertal, Choundpora, Gariend Kalan, Ghotipora Khansahib, Bonapora, Drang ( All District Budgam), Sonabran Anderkote, Nowgam Bala to Bana Mohalla Nowgam, Peer Mohalla to Badipora Dhalpora Sonawari, and Abadpora to Gamdu Imambara in Sonawari ( All District Bandipora). Thousands of mourners participated in these processions in a peaceful atmosphere marked by discipline, religious devotion, and profound respect for the sanctity of Muharram.(KNS)
