Srinagar July 04:(KNS) Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary on Saturday slammed the government over the skyrocketing prices of the essential commodities, terming the trend ruthlessly apocalyptic for a common man who earns tirelessly from dawn to dusk.

Participating in a protest demonstration held by the Congress functionaries here, Kadfeen while speaking to the media on the sidelines of the event said the government has failed in addressing the woes of a common man and its failure to streamline the economy has plunged the poor into chaos and uncertainty. He added that the situation has now reached such a pass when the government has virtually restored to extortion and is leaving the pockets of the downtrodden torn and empty.

In a statement issued to KNS reads, Kadfeen said that the tall claims made by the government over ushering in a new era of development and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir have miserably fallen flat with prices of essentials skyrocketing and unemployment reaching to a dreadful level.

He said that while the people are battling the hardships that came in with the lockdown due to COVID-19, the government instead of trying to mitigate the losses is plundering people with both hands. Kadfeen said that the fuel price rise is going to hit the economy harder in days to come and its disastrous impacts will leave the entire populace in distress and perturbation.(KNS)
