Govt doing little to save peoples’ lives on Jammu- Sgr highway: Kadfeen

Srinagar, May 17 (KNS): Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary has expressed concern over the dilapidated condition of Jammu- Srinagar national highway, stating the road has been consuming precious lives for decades now and inaction of the authorities to stop loss of lives is deeply worrying.
A statement issued to KNS reads, Kadfeen said in a statement that the massive landslide at Ramban has so far killed two people while has several have been left injured. He added that at a time when stranded people from Kashmir who were stuck in other parts of the country are allowed to go home, the closure of the highway is only plunging people into the morass of insurmountable predicaments.
He added that it was worrisome to find that when connectivity has been the major concern and prime focus of the governments, why the lone highway that connects landlocked Kashmir valley with the outer world is left unattended.
He maintained further that the government should press into service men and machinery to make the highway safe for the travel. Kadfeen said that it is extremely unfortunate that the government is least concerned over the continuous loss of precious lives on Jammu- Srinagar highway with little being done to ensure the safety of the passengers.
