Jammu, Dec 04 (KNS): Apni Party Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir today urged Govt to establish consumer courts in J&K which did not exist following the Reorganization Act, 2019.

“The consumers are suffering because there is no mechanism for the redressal of their problems after the Reorganization of J&K and this situation has pushed the consumers to the wall with the adding of more issues,” said Mir while addressing a Legal Cell meeting of advocates at the Apni Party Office in Gandhi Nagar.

The meeting was attended by Provincial President, Jammu, Manjit Singh, Additional Spokesperson, Senior Advocate Nirmal Kotwal, Legal Cell, Jammu Province President, Vikram Rathore, Vice President Legal Wing, Zulker Nain, General Secretary Kuldeep Sudan, and Secretary Surekha Bhat.

Addressing the Legal Cell and number of advocates in the meeting, he said that “The Govt is doing nothing to address the problems being faced by the consumers from over the last two years in absence of the consumer courts which were available before August 5, 2019. Thus, these consumer courts should be reestablished in J&K for the benefit of the consumers.”

Meanwhile, he also appreciated the establishment of CAT benches in Jammu and Srinagar.

He, however, demanded the CAT benches should be stationed within the court premises for the facility of advocates, and their clients/petitioners.

“It becomes difficult for the advocates and their clients/petitioners to reach the existing offices of CAT benches in Jammu and Srinagar,” he said.

In this meeting various other issues of advocates were also discussed in threadbare by the Legal Cell and the senior party leaders.

Prominent among those advocates who were present in the meeting included Amit Sharma, Vikram Thakur, Harish Sharma, Rajinder Singh, Nikhil Nargotra, Manmeet Singh, Rajat Sharma, Renuka Bharti, Kuljeet Kour, Seema Sharma, Sofia Chaudhary, Deepak Mahajan, Sanzi Gupta, Gourab Sharma, Alisha Thakur, Supriya Gandotra, Akash Samotra, Anil Thappa, Akash Kumar, Ajay Sharma, Seemantika Tiku, Roshali Sharma, Savneet Kour and others.
