Fully prepared to thwart any infiltration bid along LoC in Kashmir: Army Commander

Srinagar, May 04 (KNS): The Army on Thursday said that they are fully prepared to thwart any efforts made from across the border to infiltrate the Kashmir Valley and disrupt the peaceful environment here.

Addressing a press conference held at Z Gali, Brigadier Vinod Singh Negi of the Army, stated that intelligence agencies had been receiving regular inputs about possible infiltration and that high alert was sounded on May 1 after receiving police input.

"In response to the intelligence, additional ambushes were deployed at possible target places in the Machil sector of Kupwara district and the special operation group of Jammu and Kashmir police was also involved in the operation," he said.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, troops braved the cold, snow, and low visibility to conduct the successful operation. The Brigadier confirmed that on May 3, an ambush had located and killed two infiltrators.

The Brigadier also said that there are continuous attempts from across the border to disrupt peace in the region. However, he reassured that all such efforts have been thwarted, and the Army remains fully alert to prevent any infiltration.

He commended the bravery of the troops deployed at the forward areas and their unwavering dedication to protecting the nation's sovereignty.(KNS)
