Former Dy Mayor Sheikh Imran commends police for swift action on NIT incident

 Srinagar, Nov 29 (KNS): Former Deputy Mayor Sheikh Imran Wednesday commended police for acting swiftly on incident occurred at NIT Srinagar in which a student of a particular community uploaded derogatory video against Prophet Muhammad (SAW) that hurted religious sentiments of the local community.

"It's commendable that the police have swiftly addressed the incident, emphasizing the importance of respecting religious sentiments," Sheikh Imran said, and added "Such actions contribute to maintaining harmony and upholding the law".

He said as a proud Indian Kashmiri Muslim, I sincerely appeal to everyone to stay calm, trusting that the police and legal system will handle the situation appropriately. Also I urge Masjid committees and local communities to promote unity and respect for diverse beliefs, ensuring that the message of calm resonates throughout.

"The FIR registered by JK Police serves as a clear indication that actions will be taken against anyone opposing our religion and beliefs, and no such behavior will be tolerated," he said.

He also said let's maintain trust in the legal process and stand united in upholding respect for our beliefs. (KNS)
