Former Dy Mayor Sheikh Imran appeals govt to release Er. Rashid

Srinagar, Sept 24 (KNS): Former Deputy Mayor Sheikh Imran Sunday appealed to Government to release Awami Itihad Party (AIP) chief Er. Rashid who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail, New Delhi.


He said that recent developments including the release of Mushtaq Ahmad Veeri, Abdul Rashid Dawoodi and Mirwaiz Maulvi Dr. Umer Farooq have instilled hope and optimism among many, and keeping the developments into account it is humbly being requested to consider the release of Er. Rashid as his detention has not only deteriorated his health but caused anguish among his family,  well-wishers, workers etc. 

He said people of J&K believes that granting clemency to Er. Rashid and allowing him to rejoin his family, friends and workers would be a step in the right direction and will restore the confidence of people on the government.

‎"Er. Rashid has a track record of contributing positively to our society, and his release would not only reunite a family but also send a message of goodwill and reconciliation. ‎I firmly believe that the principles of justice and humanity that our nation upholds should be extended to all individuals, irrespective of their background or beliefs," he said in a statement.

In light of the recent developments and the spirit of reconciliation, I earnestly request PMO India??, PM Narendra Modi??, Home Minister Amit Shah, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha ‎to intervene in reviewing Er. Rashid's case and consider his release. ‎Indeed your wisdom and decision-making can bring about a positive change in the lives of many, especially in Kashmir. ‎It will also contribute significantly to enhancing the democratic fabric of the region, fostering trust, and promoting reconciliation among its people, statement reads.
