First batch of 630 pilgrims in 2 flights leave for Hajj from Srinagar

 Srinager, June 07(KNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of Haj pilgrims from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, marking the commencement of a spiritual odyssey. 

 
With a total of 40 flights scheduled between 7th and 22nd June, the airport is poised to facilitate the pilgrimage, attracting a significant number of 12,079 devotees from Jammu and Kashmir and an additional 452 from Ladakh UT who are ready to embark on this sacred expedition.
 
Accompanied by esteemed officials and committee members, Sinha interacted with the pilgrims, conveying his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to them.
 
Expressing his sentiments, the Lt Governor shared, "I pray for the successful pilgrimage of the blessed pilgrims who are embarking upon the sacred journey for performing the Haj." He further extended his prayers for peace, prosperity, and the overall well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
 
Upon reaching their destination in Jeddah, the Consulate General of India, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, will receive and assist the Haj pilgrims, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience.
 
The departure of the first batch of pilgrims comprised 630 individuals, with two flights carrying 315 passengers each. Among the pilgrims, there were 339 male and 291 female devotees eagerly setting out on this spiritual endeavor.
 
Safina Baig, the Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Haj Committee, expressed her satisfaction with the arrangements made for the pilgrims, noting, "We have tried to make the arrangements better this year." She also mentioned that another batch of 115 women, who are traveling without a "mahram" (male guardian), is scheduled to depart for Haj on June 10.
 
several pilgrims expressed their gratitude and anticipation for the journey. Abdul Khaliq from Rainawari area said, "This is God's blessing that we are going for the pilgrimage. We will pray for Jammu and Kashmir." Firdous Bhat from the Chadoora area added, "I have never felt so much happiness as it is the ultimate goal of a Muslim to go on this pilgrimage. We will pray for peace and prosperity in Kashmir. We will also pray for the youth who indulge in drug addiction that the Almighty shows them the right path."(KNS).
