Jammu, Jul 1 (KNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday inaugurated the Tawi Aarti and a Light & Sound Show here to welcome pilgrims for the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, describing the pilgrimage as a "living thread" that unites diverse cultures and traditions into a shared fabric of faith.
With the yatra set to commence shortly, Sinha said Jammu Kashmir is reverberating with chants of Lord Shiva and the banks of Tawi are lit by lamps of devotion.
"This sacred journey of faith, discipline and spiritual awakening is a source of inspiration for countless generations," the LG said, inviting seekers from across the country to participate.
Speaking at the riverfront event, Sinha said the Tawi Aarti, rooted in ancient practice, stands as a "vibrant symbol of our collective spiritual consciousness, cultural unity, spiritual values and social harmony".
"The river's uninterrupted flow reminds us that just as its waters move freely without distinction, so too should human life be guided by love, cooperation, and mutual respect," he said.
He also called for making every pilgrim an ambassador for Jammu Kashmir by ensuring the highest standards of safety, dignity, comfort and care.
Sinha envisioned Jammu emerging as a global centre for spiritual tourism and cultural studies, while hailing the Tawi riverfront as a model for environmental protection and sustainable development.
He lauded Jammu Smart City Limited for transforming the once-neglected banks into vibrant centres of culture and spiritual values.
The LG also launched the 'Raahi: Hop Jammu' Bus Service, an initiative of the District Administration Jammu, featuring air-conditioned e-buses on thematic routes including Tirath Line, Chenab Line, Sarhad Line and Fun Line.
Earlier, Sinha inaugurated an exhibition on the yatra and presented Swachhta Souvenirs to pilgrims.
MPs Jugal Kishore Sharma and Sat Sharma, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, DGP Nalin Prabhat, Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Dr Rakesh Minhas and other senior officials were present on the occasion. (KNS)
