Reviews the Progress under centrally sponsored Schemes

Srinagar,07 April (KNS):Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad
Iqbal exhorted upon the officers to evolve the farmer friendly schemes,
new concepts and innovations by adopting new cropping systems in the
potential areas so that the production could be enhanced.

As per the statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS),While reviewing
the functioning of the department and the progress on the implementation
of different centrally sponsored schemes and Flagship programmes in a
meeting held at Directorate of Agriculture Lalmandi Srinagar he asked the
participants to aware the farmers of far-flung areas about the latest farmer
centric technology related to the development of the agriculture sector.


He asked the officers to work in coordination with the representatives of
Panchayats, Block Development Councils and District Development
Councils so that the programmes and schemes could reach the grass root
level in a more effective, positive manner and will finally boost the rural
economy.


Director Agriculture impressed upon the officers to hold workshops and
awareness programmes to create awareness among the young generation
so that they can explore entrepreneurship opportunities in agriculture and
allied sectors. He asked the officers to ensure that all the targets under
different schemes must be achieved in the set time frame besides that the
targets under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchaye Yojana (micro- irrigation)
must be completed time bound.


While reviewing the expenditures under different centrally sponsored
schemes Chowdhary reiterated and said that every single penny allocated
must be utilised for the welfare of farming community and every step
needed should be taken in this direction.


Earlier the director was informed about the progress on the implementation
and expenditure under different centrally sponsored schemes during the
year 2020-21.

The meeting was attended by Joint Director Apiculture & Mushroom
Development Farooq Ahmad Shah, Joint Director Agriculture Inputs Amir-
ud-din Andrabi, Joint Director Extension Mohammad Qasim Gani, Joint
Director Engineering M. Ilyas Khateeb, Deputy Director Law- Enforcement
M. Younis Chowdhary, Joint Director Farms and Medicinal Plants Mrs
Kounser Parveen and all Chief Agricultures Officers of the department.(KNS)
