Chadoora Oct 1 (KNS): In order to mark the 10th anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission and to pay special tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on eve of his birthday the Municipal Committee Chadoora held an event in the town which was attended by local citizens , students , civil society actors and employees of Municipal Committee Chadoora and other officials. The event was part of the national campaign titled Ek Tarek Ek Ghanta Ek Sath.
Students , civil society members and local citizens marched on the streets of Chadoora town from Municipal office to Doodh Ganga banks near Govt Higher Secondary School. The march was led by MC Chadoora President Syed Fahad Andrabi , Social Activist Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat and local senior citizens and employees of MC Chadoora.
Students of Govt Higher Secondary School Chadoora along with staff and Principal Ms Humaira participated in the street theatre show presented by Rayees Wathoori and Tanveer from Tulkul Arts and Media Collective group. The students , staff of JK Bank , Hr Secondary School Chadoora and civil society actors participated in the sanitation drive on Doodh Ganga banks as well. Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat while addressing the gathering said that people need to bring behavioural change vis a vis sanitation and waste management. He appreciated the work done by MC Chadoora under its President Syed Fahad Andrabi as they have been collecting waste from each household and shops in double shifts. He also thanked the National Green Tribunal (NGT) , Principal Secretary HUDD Prashant Goyal , Secretary Mining Dr Rashmi Singh , DC Budgam Akshay Labroo , Commissioner SMC Athar Aamir for their intervention in protecting Doodh Ganga.
Social activists and respected citizens of Chadoora namely Mudaser Yatoo, Shiraz Ahmad , Shakeel Ahmad Dar, Riyaz Ahmad Mir, Syed Farhat , Nazir Ahmad Dhobi and others also attended the event. President MC Chadoora Syed Fahad Andrabu thanked the participants for making the event successful. Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Chadoora Mohammad Shahid also attended the event.(KNS)
