Srinagar, Aug 15 (KNS):Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Monday said that the era of Militancy, fear and corruption has ended in the Union territory.

"The days of Militancy, corruption and fear have come to an end in J&K and no one will display Pakistan's flag here now as everyone here is hoisting the flag of the country which they love,"  the LG said while addressing the main 76th Independence Day function at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket stadium in Srinagar and unfurled the national flag and took the salute at the march-past.

"We all have to firmly make Jammu and Kashmir free of militancy, fear and corruption because there is no room for violence here," he said.

"My heart is filled with ever-lasting gratitude towards the brave soldiers of Maa Bharti," the LG said, adding that they have decided that a Balidan Stambh shall be established in srinagar in memory of the brave soldiers who have sacrificed their lives defending our beloved motherland.

"J&K is on the move. I call upon every section of the society to make their valuable contribution to a happy, peaceful & prosperous UT. On this Independence Day, let us take a pledge to make J&K Nasha-Mukt, Bhrashtachar-Mukt and Rojgaar-Yukt," the LG said.(KNS)
