Srinagar, Jan 05 (KNS): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, P K Pole on Wednesday said that due to rise in Covid-19 cases night curfew will be imposed in Jammu and Kashmir.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Pole said that a separate order will be issued regarding night curbs in the Union Territory as Covid-19 cases are again surging.

He, however, said that the administration is fully prepared to tackle any situation arising out of surge in the Covid-19 cases.

He appealed to the people to cooperate with the administration in order to prevent third wave of Covid-19 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Pole also said that electricity to hospitals especially, where Covid positive patients are being treated, is provided through special electricity feeders. 

“If there is a breakdown even for a minute, power backup has also been placed in hospitals. It is being ensured that patients do not face any difficulty due to snowfall,” he said.

He said that people do face many difficulties due to snowfall, but administration is trying to provide every basic facility to the people under these difficult circumstances.

“It is not possible to work on all the difficulties in time as in many areas roads get blocked, there is irregular supply of electricity and water due to heavy snowfall, but administration is trying its best to restore all the facilities immediately so that people do not suffer,” he said.

Pole also said that electricity in the areas where it has got disrupted due to fault in transformers will also be restored soon. “In urban areas, the damaged transformers will be replaced within 12 hours while in rural areas, it will take maximum of 48 hours to replace the damaged transformers,” he said.

He said that maximum government offices remained functional today, while essential service employees are on duty and all the control rooms are open 24*7 to facilitate the general public in case of any emergency. (KNS)
