Dry spell for six days, Night Temps to Drop Significantly in J&K

Srinagar, Dec 04(KNS): The weather forecast for the next six days in Jammu and Kashmir indicates a predominantly dry spell.


According to Kashmir Weather, an independent weather forecaster, residents can expect a notable decline in night temperatures, particularly in the Kashmir plains where temperatures may plummet to minus 3 - 4°C. In some areas, temperatures might even dip lower, signaling the onset of chilly nights.

The dip in temperatures is not limited to the Kashmir plains, as below-normal temperatures are also anticipated in Jammu plains and the higher reaches of the region. 

In Kashmir, the night temperatures have experienced a further decline, with readings dropping below freezing at various locations. Pahalgam registered the lowest temperature at minus 3.4 degrees Celsius. Several places, including Qazigund, Kupwara, and Gulmarg, also saw the mercury settling below freezing. 

In Kupwara, temperatures reached minus 2.5 degrees Celsius, while Kokernag recorded a low of 0.8 degrees Celsius. Gulmarg, renowned for its ski resorts, ranked as the second coldest at minus 3.0 degrees Celsius, and Qazigund in South Kashmir recorded a low of minus 0.4 degrees Celsius.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, noted a minimum temperature of 0.7 degrees Celsius. The weatherman predicts that dry and cloudy conditions will persist until December 10.(KNS).
