Srinagar, 20 April (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah on Monday paid glowing tributes to party veteran, former MLA Bijbehara, former Minster and a political stalwart from South Kashmir Khawaja Abdul Gani Veeri on his 5th death anniversary.
According to statement issued to KNS, Late Veeri Sahib represented the Bijbehara constituency for three consecutive terms and was closely associated with Sher- e- Kashmir said the Party President while offering tributes to the late leader on his death anniversary. “He played a pioneering role in the struggle against the unjust rulers. He was at an early age introduced to the ideals of democracy and justice and was deeply attached to the ideals of National Conference. A mass leader late Veeri sahib will be remembered for dedication towards the party, for his connect with grass root level workers, and common people for whom he worked tirelessly. I pay my earnest tributes to him on his death anniversary. May almighty grant him highest station in Jannah.”
Party Vice President while paying tributes to the late party veteran said, “He worked for the upliftment of downtrodden, and other weaker sections of the society. A close associate of Sher -e-Kashmir, Late Veeri Sahib is still esteemed by one and all on the basis of developmental works he carried out not just in Bijbehara but in the entire south Kashmir. His vision helped to bring huge chunks of land under irrigation in south Kashmir. I pay my tributes to the late leader, may almighty grant him highest echelons in Jannah.”
His son and NC south zone president Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri, currently under house detention, also paid glowing tributes to his father AG Veeri on his 5th death anniversary.
Among others party’s Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustufa Kamal, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Party MPs Hasnain Masoodi, Muhammad Akbar Lone, senior leaders Sakina Itoo, G A Shah, Dr Shafi, Provincial Secretary Showkat Ahmad Mir, district President Anantnag Altaf Ahmad Kaloo, Provincial Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar have also paid glowing tributes to the party veteran on his death anniversary, praying for eternal peace to his soul, the statement issued to KNS said (KNS)
