Pay rich tributes to deceased, recall his contribution to Kashmiri language

Srinagar, 27 April (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Party President, Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Mr Omar Abdullah on Tuesday expressed profound grief over the demise of noted academician, renowned poet and writer and Sahitya Academy awardee Prof. Ghulam Muhammad Giri also known as Margoob Banihali, who breathed his last today. 

In his condolence message, Dr Farooq paid rich tributes to the deceased saying that the passing away of Margoob Sahib has left us culturally impoverished. He said Margoob Sahib was a representative of the renaissance generation of writers and poets. I am deeply saddened at his passing away, I pray to Almighty to grant the deceased the highest stations in Jannat. I express my unison with the bereaved family, share their grief and pray for the fortitude to them at this difficult time,” he said.

Omar Abdullah In his condolence message said the passing away of Margoob Sahib has sent shock waves across the literary landscape of Kashmir. “The depth of imagination, creativeness and lucidity of his writings garnered him laurels and accolades.

The services he rendered in his capacity as an academician, and HOD at the star-studded Department of Kashmiri at the University of Kashmir will be remembered for the years to come.

The resonance of his poems and writings will continue to enthral the present and the coming generations. I pay my earnest tributes to him and pray for peace to his soul in the highest stations of Jannat. I express my solidarity with the bereaved family and pray for much-needed strength to them to bear the irreparable loss," he said.

The duo expressed solidarity with Dr Mushtaq Margoob, the son of the deceased at this difficult time.

Among other party’s General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, District President Ramban Sajjad Shaheen, Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar have also condoled the demise of Margoob Banihali.(KNS)
