Srinagar 18 March (KNS): “Days after we observed the International Women’s Day, to highlight the issues our women are facing and pledged to resolve them accordingly, unfortunately one of our sisters fell prey to a heinous crime at Soibug area of Budgam.”
This was stated by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Coordinator for Central Kashmir (Youth wing) and constituency in-charge Lal chowk, Srinagar, Zuhaib Yousuf Mir in a function at his office, organized in memory of the Soibug crime victim.
The function was attended by more than one hundred women, who unequivocally condemned the Soibug criminal act and termed it a blot on the face of Kashmir.
“We don’t need a day in a year to observe the importance of women in our lives and society,” Zuhaib said and added, “in fact every day of every year belongs to the women folk who now handle every field of life.”
Terming the Soibug criminal act as shameful, Zuhaib said that the women are the ‘pride’ of every society. He impressed upon the religious and social leaders to raise their voice against such acts of violence which are unacceptable to the whole humanity.
In the light of various issues and problems faced by the people of Kashmir under an obscure and stoic administration, Zuhaib said that our women folk are suffering badly.
On the occasion, many women from various locations joined the party and said that PDP and its president; Mehbooba Mufti is the only voice that raises issues of women in Kashmir.
The program was dedicated especially to the victim of Soibug crime victim and all the other women who are reeling under tremendous pressure.
