Director Sericulture chairs review meet in Srinagar

 Srinagar, April 18 (KNS): Today a review meeting was held in the Directorate of Sericulture Development Department, Tulsi Bagh, Srinagar under the chairmanship of the Director Sericulture J&K, Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (IAS) wherein the officers/ In-charges of Silkworm Seed Stations across the department were present.

The meeting delved into several critical aspects aimed at enhancing the sericulture sector's performance, with a particular focus on achieving physical and financial targets outlined for the fiscal year 2023-24. Each project and activity received meticulous scrutiny to ascertain their progress, with a keen eye on realizing optimal outcomes.
 
Underlining the importance of major achievements within each project the officers showcased the high-definition, geo-tagged photographs of established operational units. This visual documentation served not only as a testament to progress but also as an inspiration for future endeavours.
 
During the deliberations the discussions were centered on the formulation of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) for both ongoing initiatives and prospective proposals for the upcoming fiscal year 2024-25. The Director, Sericulture J&K informed that collaborative efforts of the department are aimed to strategize effectively, aligning resources with objectives to drive sustained growth and innovation within the sericulture landscape.
 
Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (IAS), Director Sericulture J&K articulated a vision of ambitious expansion within the sericulture domain, urging officers to redouble efforts towards augmenting cocoon production. Emphasizing the pivotal role of silkworm rearers and farmers, he advocated for concerted measures to bolster their numbers across districts, thereby fostering inclusivity and equitable growth.

Furthermore, the Director underscored the importance of elevating seed production to meet escalating demands, tasking the department with crafting robust action plans geared towards achieving this pivotal objective. Such initiatives are poised not only to fortify the sericulture sector but also to catalyze socio-economic progress, empowering communities and fostering resilience in the face of challenges.
 
Shri Ajaz Ahmad Bhat also highlighted the department's commitment to generating employment opportunities for the youth in the region. He stated, "Youth empowerment is a key aspect of our vision. By leveraging the expertise of the Sericulture Development Department, we aim to create sustainable employment opportunities for the youth, contributing to their skill development and overall socio-economic growth."
