Srinagar, Jul 25 (KNS): Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat on Saturday briefed 21 IPS officer trainees of the 78th Regular Recruit batch on the Jammu and Kashmir Police's counter-terrorism strategy, highlighting the force's sacrifices and operational excellence in tackling Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in the Union Territory.
The interaction, held at the Police Headquarters here, was part of an orientation exercise for the probationary officers, who were given a detailed insight into the security challenges peculiar to the region and the multi-layered counter-insurgency grid employed by the J&K Police.
Senior officers of the force apprised the trainees of the intelligence-based operational model, real-time surveillance systems, and coordinated security mechanisms that have been instrumental in neutralizing terrorist networks and ensuring peace in the Valley, officials said.
The trainee officers were also briefed on the immense sacrifices made by the personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, who have fought prolonged militancy with exceptional courage and professionalism, they added.

DGP Nalin Prabhat, while addressing the young officers, reiterated the force's commitment to eliminating the menace of proxy terror and protecting the lives of citizens. He also emphasized the importance of leadership, adaptability, and community connect in policing conflict-affected areas.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion on policing in volatile environments and the evolving nature of terror threats, with the DGP urging the officers to draw lessons from the rich operational experience of the J&K Police — widely regarded as one of the most battle-hardened police forces in the country.
The IPS trainees are currently on a study tour to Jammu and Kashmir as part of their foundational training curriculum. (KNS)
