DEO Kupwara reviews progress of post-delimitation exercise

KUPWARA, JULY 12 (KNS):  The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir who is also District Election Officer (DEO) Kupwara today convened a meeting to review the progress of post delimitation exercise including rationalization and physical verification of Assembly polling stations.

All Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) of the district were present in the meeting.
 
The meeting discussed threadbare various issues relating to the subject and the officers briefed the DEO about the progress.
 
The DEO was informed that Kupwara district has 6 Assembly constituencies viz 1-Karnah, 2-Trehgam, 3-Kupwara, 4-Lolab, 5-Handwara and 6-Langate with total number of polling stations 578.
 
He reviewed the facilities including drinking water, furniture, lighting, separate entry and exit points, toilet facility, Ramp, Help Desk and Signage.
 
 It was informed that 290 polling stations have separate exit and entry facility, 53 have ramp facility, 33 have toilet facility, 162 have help desk, 262 have signage facility available as on date.
 
The DEO stressed upon the concerned officers to speed up the process of work and take necessary action as per the already issued schedule of activities. He asked them to ensure completion of physical verification by BLOs during house to house visit by July 25. (KNS)
