Delay in polls has disempowered the people of J&K, says Ch. Zulfkar Ali

Rajouri January 29 (KNS): : Apni Party Vice President, and Former Cabinet Minister, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali has expressed serious concern over delaying Legislative Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir that has given rise to the feeling of disempowerment among the people.

“We are unfortunate that Assembly Elections were not declared in Jammu and Kashmir whereas the other states across India have held series of elections in phased manner and the people elected the Govt of their choice,” said Choudhary Zulfkar Ali while addressing a one day worker’s meeting in Rajouri.

The Former Cabinet Minister while expressing anguish over the delay in elections explained how the absence of an elected Govt has created dissatisfaction among the people regarding development and their day-to-day issues.

He recalled how the country celebrated 75th Republic Day with zeal and enthusiasm and underlined the importance of having an elected Govt that would address the public issues.

“The constitution in a democratic country empowers people to elect their own Govt and frame policies that are public friendly and bring the changes in the society as per the expectation of the people. However, Jammu and Kashmir has been deprived of elections for the last several years and babus are ruling the historic erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

The worker’s meeting held threadbare discussion over the emerging political situation and its adverse impact on the people because the gap between the people and the administration has increased and public issues often remain unaddressed.

Those who attended the worker’s meet include District President, Rajouri, Syed Manzoor Hussain Shah Bukhari, Fazal Chauhan, Choudhary Mir Hussain, Karam Din, Former BDC - Shamim Akhtar, Khalil-ur-Rahman Lone, Sofi Alam Din, Balwant Singh, Wazir Singh, Sachin Singh, Sobha Singh, Ashfaq Lone, Shabir Chowdhary, Anwar Shah, Dilpazir, Arif Rather, Shafqat Chouhan, Mushtaq Ahmed and others.(KNS)
