Srinagar, Jul 19 (KNS): The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of Srinagar on Sunday issued a high alert advisory, warning residents and tourists of heavy to extremely intense rainfall forecast across the valley from July 19 to 23.
An order issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner and CEO of DDMA Srinagar, Aadil Fareed accessed news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) stated that the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted inclement weather conditions that could trigger landslides and flash floods. Residents of vulnerable areas, including Fakir Gujri and Khonmouh, have been advised to stay away from hill slopes, landslide-prone zones, and water bodies.
Authorities have ordered the suspension of all Shikara activities on Dal Lake and Nigeen Lake for the duration of the alert.

Emergency helplines have been activated for public assistance. Citizens can contact the District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) at 0194-2483651, or the Police Control Room at 0194-2477567. WhatsApp numbers—9103998355 and 9103998357—have also been made available.
The advisory has been circulated to all line departments, including SDRF, NDRF, Fire & Emergency Services, and the Senior Superintendent of Police, with a directive to ensure compliance. The public has been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with the district administration. (KNS)
