DDC Shopian inaugurates Kissan Mela cum exhibition at Keller

Shopian, July 10 (KNS): District Development Commissioner Chaudhary Mohamad Yaseen today inaugurated KISAN MELA cum EXBHITION under National Mission on Agriculture Extension & Technology (NMAET) at Keller Shopian. The KISAN Mela was organised by the Department of Agriculture in collaboration with other allied Departments.

Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that the KISAN Mela has been launched with an aim to reach out to the farmer community for cent percent implementation of centrally sponsored PM KISAN KCC & other farmer Welfare schemes. He said that the District Administration has already started activities to cover the cent percent target under the KCC scheme. On the occasion 44 KCC were distributed by the DDC among the beneficiaries of the Keller area. He said people have suffered much more & due to the damage caused to their crops this programme was held so that the people of Keller can avail the benefits of various schemes. He said besides availing KCC the KISSAN Mela is also a good opportunity for farmers to get latest technical knowhow of Agricultural techniques to increase their income.

DDC stressed upon their field functionaries to visit every village and ensure that no farmer is left behind from availing benefits under the centrally sponsored scheme KCC. He exhorted upon the people for maintaing social distance & adopting SOP’s especially stressed to use the masks to avoid the spread of COVID-19 Virus. He said that some people say that COVID-19 is a hoax but don’t believe them because 15 deaths have been reported from the District Shopian sofar.

The event was participated by a huge number of farmers. The farmers were given awareness by the resource persons about the benefits of KCC & the process for applying for the same. All the departments demonstrated their schemes and activities.

On the occasion, the people raised various issues and projected their demands like road connectivity, scarcity of electricity, fresh drinking water facility etc. DDC assured the people present on the occasion that all their genuine demands would be looked into and redressed accordingly. He said that 6.3 MVA Receiving Station Mastpora Keller is near its completion and will be commissioned for public next week by which the whole area of Keller and others will be facilitated and in this way their long pending demand for which they were anxiously waiting would be fulfilled.

Among others Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Joint Director Agriculture, Lead District Manager, J&K Bank & other concerned Officers & Officials besides field functionaries and a large number of beneficiaries participated in the day long programme (KNS)
