DDC Kupwara reviews physical, financial status of 89 Jal Shakti projects


Kupwara September 15:(KNS) District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, AnshulGarg today directed the Engineers of Jal Shakti and Irrigation& Flood Control (I&FC) departments to complete the works of all ongoing projects within the stipulated timeframe or face action under rules.

The DDC said this while chairing a review meeting of Engineers of Jal Shakti (PHE) and I&FC departments, he also gave timeline of November 2020for many projects having the physical status of more than 60-70 per cent.

The meeting was informed that 89 projects of PHE and I&FC sectors have been taken up at an approved cost of Rs.254.70 crore across the district under Languishing Projects Programme and of these, 89 projects, 72 are Water Supply Schemes and 17 are Irrigation Schemes.

The DDC reviewed the status of all 89 on-going projects and asked the concerned engineers to strictly follow the timeline for completion of the projects keeping in view the upcoming winter season.

He came up heavily upon those engineers who have failed to meet the timeline of August and September, this year and asked them to complete these projects by ending November this year.

The DDC said that all these projects are being completed up to March 2022 and by that timeline, there will be complete saturation of all households under flagship Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

Joint Director Planning, Abdul Majeed, Superintending Engineer Hydraulic Circle Handwara and Executive Engineers of PHE and I&FC of Kupwara, Handwara & Tangdar divisions were present in the meeting.(KNS)
