DC Kupwara finalizes arrangements for Kissan Pakhwada


Kupwara, June 25: Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Ansul Garg today convened a meeting of all concerned officers to discuss the arrangements being put in place to observe ‘Kissan Pakhwada’ from July 7 to July 21, this year.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir were also present in the meeting.
It was given out in the meeting that the objective of ‘Kissan Pakhwada’ is to increase flow of advances in agriculture sector and double the income of farmers by way of their involvement in agricultural related welfare schemes like KCC, PM-KISSAN, KCC , RKVY and other schemes.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed upon all stakeholders to play a proactive role for making the fortnight Kissan Pakhwada a successful mission in the district and ensure that cent percent coverage of farmers including that belonging to Animal / Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries sectors under the purview of centrally sponsored PM Kissan and KCC schemes. He also asked for launching of massive awareness regarding the Pakhwada and the schemes and also remove the bottlenecks in obtaining loans against kCC from different financial institutions.
On the occasion it was informed, that as many as 62,806 accounts have been registered under P M Kissan till date in the district, of which a loan of Rs.85 crore has been sanctioned in favour 58,423 beneficiaries so for. Besides, Rs.17 crore loan have been provided in favour of 2778 beneficiaries of Animal & Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries sector under KCC scheme.
The Deputy Commissioner asked Additional Deputy Commissioners and Sub Divisional Magistrates of the district to hold separate meetings in their areas to sensitise all field functionaries and PRIs and ensure that all farmers are covered during the Kissan Pakhwada. He also directed concerned line departments and bankers to play their active role in making the fortnight Kissan Pakhwada a success.
Regarding awareness, the DC stressed for involving the experts of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries deparment to make farmers aware of various schemes including new technologies of cultivation.
Lead Bank manager kupwara was directed to ensure that all bank branches of the district have proper hoardings, literatures regarding various schemes available and ensure that branches are disposing favourably loan applications available within a stipulated timeframe so that a substantial credit is approved and disbursed before or during Kissan Pakhwada.
The DC urged upon all the stake holders to follow guidelines and SOPs related to COVID-19 while carrying out activities related to the campaign.
Among others the meeting was attended by ACR, JD Planning, Chief Agriculture officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, AD Fisheries, Lead Bank manager DIO and other concerned officers.(KNS)
