DC B’la Launches NADCP to Eradicate Foot and Mouth Disease

Baramulla, September 22 (KNS): Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo in presence of Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Bramulla today formally launches the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) in a function organized by Department of Animal Husbandry Baramulla at Parhispora Pattan.

The said programme is a free mass vaccination programme, sponsored by Department of Animal Husbandry wherein Cloven-Footed animals (Cattle/Buffalo etc) shall be vaccinated against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) so that the disease is eradicated.

Highlighting the objectives of the programme, DC said that development of dairy units through proper intervention has been the priority of administration. He said that various initiatives are being taken for the welfare of cattle rearers/farmers adding that need of the hour is to disseminate awareness at the grass root level.

Dr Itoo urged the people to cooperate with the concerned functionaries in carrying out the vaccination campaign. He also informed that Pattan area has been choosen for dairy development under the centrally sponsored Aspirational Districts programme as this region has huge potential in milk production. Moreover, he appealed the youth to come forward and opt dairy development initiative as their career avenue.

Meanwhile, DC interacted with several farmers who appraised him about their issues and demands with regard to cattle development. Dr Itoo assured them that all their demands shall be looked for their proper redressel besides urging upon them to cooperate in making this campaign a success.(KNS)
