Bandipora, Dec 09 (KNS): Cricket sensation from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, Nasir Lone on Thursday received a call-up from Mumbai Indian IPL team for trails.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Nasir said that his joy knew no bounds after he got a call from from the Mumbai Indians team for trails in Mumbai for IPL 2022, auction of which will be held later. 

Nasir, who hails from Gund Qaiser village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district said that reaching to this level is a dream for every sports person and he feels overjoyed as his dream has come true today. 

He said that he got a call from the Mumbai Indians today afternoon that he has been selected for trials, which is scheduled on 15th December.

Replying to a question regarding future aspirations, Nasir said that the highest level of cricket is to represent one’s own country at the international level. “My dream is to represent India at the international level and be a part of team India,” he said.

He said that his role model in Cricket world is Virat Kohli and he wants to play international matches with him. 

“I have played state level matches and I will do my best so that I could be selected for the Mumbai Indians team for the IPL,” he added.

Nasir said that since 2014, when he was in 9th standard, he used to play cricket and also played state level under-19 matches. “After that I continued my passion and played several under-23 matches and last year I played for Vijay Hazare tournament in the under-25 category,” he added.

Nasir further said that he has played local cricket under former Ranji player from Bandipora, Raja Saleem. “He is more than a brother for me as he has supported me a lot in tackling all through since I started playing cricket at the local level,” he said.

Nasir also said that his parents have always supported his dream. “I am also grateful to all my mentors and team mates who believed in me and guided me through this journey,” he said. (KNS)
