Srinagar, May 8 (KNS): While expressing condolences with the families of Dr Shamim Ahmad Wani, Special Secretary to Government, Finance Department and Parshotam Lal, Deputy Director Prosecution, both of whom died due to Covid-19, CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami Saturday urged the government to take immediate steps to control the further spread of the pandemic.
In a condolence message, he extended solidarity with the bereaved families of Shamim Ahmad Wani, who also served as Deputy Commissioner Kulgam and Parshotam Lal, of R S Pura, Jammu, who had joined Police Headquarters few days back as DDP.
He remembered Shamim Ahmad Wani as a dedicated, soft-spoken and well-meaning officer who served with commitment in his capacity as Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam.
He also said there is an immediate need to augment health infrastructure in J&K, which includes ICU beds, ventilators and other essential medicines as Covid-19 was spreading like a wildfire. Besides, there is also a need to accelerate vaccination drive and cover the maximum population at the earliest. There are reports of vaccine shortage as well which needs to be redressed on the priority.(KNS)
