College contractual teachers stage protest, demand regularization

Srinagar, Sept 15 (KNS): All Jammu and Kashmir College Contractual Teachers Association (AJKCCTA) Tuesday staged a protest demonstration in Srinagar and demanded regularization of service.
According to KNS, several contractual college teachers assembled in Press Enclave Srinagar holding placards and banners and impressed upon the authorities to come up with job security policy for them. Protesting teachers were raising slogans “We want job security” and “Regularize our services”.
They said that they are serving the department from last twenty years are facing immense problem in day to day affairs of life. “Most of us working on academic arrangement basis in several colleges have not received salaries since 2019. They are facing worst ever time”, protesting teachers said, adding that they forcibly being replaced by transfers after raising voice for due rights.
Spokesperson of the association told KNS that though we are appointed by a competent authority but our genuine concerns are never heard and addressed. He alleged that authorities are giving preference to those having low qualification, which is unjustified and against the principles.
He said the Government had earlier initiated the process of regularization but it was unfortunately left midway. He appealed Government to address the genuine concerns of contractual teachers and take concrete steps for their regularization of services. (KNS)
