Kupwara, Jan 23 (KNS): Amid surge in the Covid-19 cases, chief medical officer Kupwara Dr Bashir Ahmed Telly on Sunday appealed parents to get their children, aged between 15 to 17 years, vaccinated against the Covid-19.

While talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Dr Bashir urged the eligible teenagers to come forward and get vaccinated at the nearest vaccination sites to safeguard themselves as vaccination is extremely important to fight this deadly virus.

He also urged teachers, PRIs and other senior citizens to mobilize and sensitize eligible students to get themselves vaccinated against the Covid-19.

Vaccination will be held at all schools and higher secondary’s including in 10 medical blocks of district. The drive is going on smoothly at all the centres to cover the eligible population," he said.

So far, , 32000 eligible students of 15 to 17 age have been vaccinated, and the total target given to us is 60 thousand.

Lauding the role of healthcare workers across the district, CMO said that the district has already achieved 100 percent target of both vaccine doses among the population above 18 years age.

Noably, earlier this month Covid-19 vaccination drive for children from 15-17 years of age was rolled out across all the districts of Kashmir. (KNS)
