Baramulla, July 23 (KNS): A woman was rescued by security forces and civil administration after a cloudburst triggered flash floods in the Mayan area of Lachipora, Bijhama, in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.
An official told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) the cloudburst, which occurred late Wednesday, caused a sudden surge in a local stream, inundating several residential houses and triggering panic among the local population, he said.
Responding swiftly to the emergency, a team comprising Tehsildar Boniyar, SDPO Uri, and SHO Police Station Bijhama rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The team safely evacuated the trapped woman and shifted her to a safer location, officials said.

"No loss of life has been reported in the incident so far," an official said, adding that the operation was completed without any casualty.
Authorities have urged people residing in low-lying and vulnerable areas to remain vigilant and avoid venturing near flooded streams and water channels. They have also been advised to follow the safety advisories issued by the district administration.
Baramulla Police, in coordination with the civil administration, continues to monitor the situation closely and remains fully prepared to deal with any further emergencies, officials added. (KNS)
