Chemists, druggist holds protest in Pattan, demands electricity


Srinagar, Sep 24 (KNS): Several chemists and druggists of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday staged protest demonstration against Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to provide them adequate power supply to their shops established in the vicinity of Trauma Hospital Pattan .
The protesting chemist and druggist told KNS they are facing several hardships in absence of the electricity in the area and their business is getting effected.
President of the association Mansoor Ahmad told we have knocked the doors of concerned officials several times and every time we were assured that power supply in the area will be provided but so far nothing has been done to provide the electricity to the area.
He also said we have to keep life saving drugs in fridges but unfortunately in absence of electricity we are able to keep these drugs.
Another chemist Mehraj u Din wani told, it has been more than two years since chemist and druggist have shifted to this location near trauma hospital Pattan but despite passing two years no electricity has been provided.
The protesting chemist and druggist warned if the electricity in the area were not provided with in a week they will hit the roads and all the responsibility is lying on the shoulders PDD,
They have also appealed Lt. Governor led administration to intervene in matte and direct the concerned officials to provide the electricity to the area (KNS)
