Centre should go Vajpayee way to bring permanent peace to Valley: Mehboob Beg

Srinagar, Jan 02 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party General Secretary Organisation has vouched for peace talks with Pakistan and urged the Centre to go Vajpayee way and resort to diplomacy for peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

While speaking at a workers convention in Sopore, he said dialogue with Pakistan is important for peace and the Modi-led government at the Centre should go Vajpayee way to bring permanent peace to the valley.

He said former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee believed in talks for peace and one can change friends, not neighbours. “Despite setbacks of parliament attack or Kargil war Vajpayee like a statesman continued the process of talks to find a lasting solution.”

Beg reminded the BJP government at centre that not only Vajpayee but the way the then home minister L K Advani held talks with Hizbul Mujahideen, which shows the maturity and calibre of leaders who want to leave behind a lasting legacy.

He added after assuming high offices like that of PMO or HMO one has to rise above the party politics and work in the intrest of country like the former PM and HM from within the BJP have done in past.

Beg also highlighted the need for everyone to see and understand the kind of politics happening in country.

“uOn one hand there is Rahul Gandhi and Congress bringing back India's secular traditions to fore by way of Bharat Jodo Yatra and PDP has extended its full support to it as it enters J&K. On the other hand there is politics of communalism and hatred being spread by BJP which is damaging India's image globally,” he said. (KNS)
