SRINAGAR, July 2(KNS): The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir (CCIK) on Thursday said it will take up several civic and trade-related issues with the authorities after its executive committee discussed concerns affecting businesses and the public.
The decision was taken at an executive committee meeting of the Chamber held at the Amar Singh Club here under the chairmanship of CCIK President Tarik Ghani. The meeting was attended by office-bearers, executive committee members and representatives of various trade sectors.
According to a CCIK statement, participants raised concerns over unscheduled power cuts, water scarcity, traffic congestion, inadequate maintenance of Smart City infrastructure and the increasing installation of hoardings in Srinagar's city centre.
The meeting also witnessed the induction of more than 23 businessmen from Srinagar into the Chamber.
Welcoming the new members, Ghani said their inclusion would strengthen the collective representation of Kashmir's business community.
He reiterated the Chamber's commitment to protecting the interests of trade and industry and said CCIK would continue to engage with the administration for the timely resolution of issues affecting commerce and economic activity.
The Chamber also appealed to traders and business establishments across Kashmir to join CCIK, saying a broader and more representative organisation would be better placed to address the challenges facing the region's business community.(KNS).
