Srinagar, Jun 25 (KNS) A delegation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries Kashmir (CCIK) on Thursday met Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and submitted a memorandum highlighting issues related to trade, industry, tourism, infrastructure, education and the overall business environment in the Union Territory.
The delegation, led by CCIK president Tariq Ghani, sought government intervention on a range of issues, including fair compensation in land acquisition cases, promotion of solar energy and electric vehicle infrastructure, resolution of delayed payments to MSMEs, simplification of change of land use (CLU) procedures and easing hotel renewal processes.
The chamber also raised concerns regarding the proposed closure of Srinagar Airport, traffic congestion in Srinagar city, pollution control clearances, road upgradation, commercial electricity dues, protection of Kashmiri handicrafts through GI tagging, and the regulatory framework governing private schools.
The delegation urged the administration to promote emerging tourist destinations, consider stakeholders' objections and suggestions on the Master Plan-2035 and focus on sustainable tourism and environmental conservation.

According to a statement issued by the chamber, the Chief Secretary assured the delegation that all issues raised would receive due consideration.
During the meeting, Dulloo also stressed the need for environmental protection and assured strict enforcement against the use of polythene across Jammu and Kashmir, the statement said.
He further said that anti-encroachment drives would be carried out in coordination with district administrations to protect public assets, tourist destinations, water bodies and environmentally sensitive areas.
The CCIK welcomed the assurances and said it would cooperate with the administration through awareness and monitoring initiatives in support of environmental protection and sustainable development efforts.(KNS).
