BJP pushed J&K youth, farmers to hopelessness: Sadhotra

VIJAYPUR MARCH 10 (KNS): Expressing grave concerover burgeoning unemployment and accumulated problems to the people, National Conference Additional General Secretary and Former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today said the BJP has pushed unemployed youth and the other segments of the society, especially the farmers to despair and hopelessness.


"In an era of the so-called start-up boom across the country, it is like sprinkling salt on the wounds of those struggling to stand-up on due to lack of jobs", Mr Sadhotra said while addressinga public raly at Vijaypur.

"It is quite intriguing that instead of generating employment to tackle the burgeoning problem, the administration is promoting and incentivising unemployment by misleading
the youth by promising two lakh jobs", he said and lambasted the BJP for blocking the avenues of the educated and enterprising youth. He questioned the rationale behind day dreaming about startup scheme and said that the double engine government is diverting the issues to hide it's failure. While unemployment is unabated growing, the daily wagers are struggling for regularisation and the vast number of skilled force have nowhere to go, he added.

Mr Sadhotra referred to the employability schemes introduced by the Omar Abdullah led government in Jammu and Kashmir and recalled the motivation behind encouraging youth to benefit from incentives to stand up on their owns, The experiment had worked well, as a good number of young people had significantly succeeded in generating employment and establishing entrepreneurship in a place where white collar jobs alone have been a culture.

Mr Sadhotra called for focussed approach towards filling up the vacancies in various departments on fast-track basis and to generate employment avenues for skilled and unskilled workforce, who have suffered hugely in recent years.

Speaking on the occasion, former minister and NC Zonal President Pir Panchal Mr Javed Rana said that the issues pertaining to youth cannot be put under the carpet for a long, as they have been nurturing a feeling of neglect and deprivation. A viable roadmap is required to be devised to generate employment and employability, keeping in view the plight of the youth, he added.

In his address, former minister and Zonal President Jammu Central Mr Rampal said that growing unemployment has cast a shadow of frustration upon the unemployed, as they find their future bleak. He said employability assumes larger significance in view of limited openings in a place like Jammu and Kashmir that has no corporate sector and lacks industrial sector.

1/2 Zonal President Reasi and fornmer minister Mr Abdul Gani Malik, while speaking on the occasion, said that the National Conference has all along worked for the empowerment of youth, which is necessary for healthy growth of the society. He, however, lamented over
the neglect the youth suffered under the BJP dispensation.

On the occasion, senior PDP leader, Dr Harmesh Singh Salathia, who was looking after Samba and Kathua districts joined the National Conference.

Welcoming Mr Salathia in the party fold, Mr Sadhotra and other leaders hoped that he and his associates will work towards strengthening the party at the grassroots level besides promoting bonds of amity and tranquility between various segments of the society, which is core of the political philosophy of the National Conference.
