Srinagar, Feb 28 (KNS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised for significant developments as its central election panel is likely to meet tomorrow in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Sources indicate that the meeting will likely mark the release of names of approximately 100 candidates across various constituencies, a crucial step in the party's electoral strategy.

Of particular interest is the deliberation on candidates for the Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir (JK), with reports suggesting that Ravinder Raina and Ashok Koul, prominent BJP leaders, have departed from the Union Capital with a list of probable names for these constituencies.

News agency KNS reported that they are expected to present this list to the party's High Command, who will then finalize the candidates for the respective constituencies.

Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Election Committee convened to discuss potential candidates for the Lok Sabha elections from the Jammu and Kathua-Udhampur Parliamentary constituencies. These candidates' names were recommended by a dedicated Committee within the party, tasked with conducting ground-level surveys to assess their suitability for candidacy.

The forthcoming meeting of the central election panel underscores the BJP's meticulous approach to candidate selection, aiming to field individuals who resonate with the electorate and uphold the party's values and vision.

The Lok Sabha Elections of Jammu and Kashmir in 2024 are poised to undergo significant changes, notably due to the region's transition from a state with six Lok Sabha seats to a union territory, with Ladakh being separated from its list of constituencies.

Despite the bifurcation, Jammu and Kashmir continues to hold immense significance in the upcoming mega election, with winning the majority of seats remaining a point of pride for national parties.

 

Traditionally, local parties like the PDP and JKNC have wielded significant influence during elections.

Previously boasting six Lok Sabha seats, the region saw a reduction to five after being designated a union territory, with Ladakh gaining separate union territory status in 2019.

BJP has set its sights on contesting all five Lok Sabha seats in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir during the 2024 Parliamentary elections, with particular emphasis on securing victory in the newly created Rajouri-Poonch-Anantnag Lok Sabha seat following the delimitation process.(KNS)
