BJP accomplished its agenda of inflicting misery to last person in society: Sadhotra

JAMMU AUGUST 03(KNS):  Describing the BJP’s tall claim of reaching out to the last person in the society as yet another Jumla, Former Minister and senior National Conference leader Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra said they have fulfilled their promise by inflicting all the miseries to the last person.

Addressing a public meeting at Chak Lal Din (Dei Chak) in Marh Assembly Constituency, which was presided by Sh. Charanjeet Singh Block President. Mr Sadhotra said that all categories of people and not only the ‘last person’ are feeling the callousness of the BJP’s double engine government on all fronts, the drinking and power supply in particular.

The situation is quite precarious during the ongoing humid and scorching monsoon season across the Jammu Region with the most important services playing pranks, leaving the people to sweat due to erratic power supply and suffer because of dry taps most of the time. The smart meter installations and the whopping electric bills are added punishments to the consumers, he added.

Mr Sadhotra said the conditions of the ‘last man’ in the society are pitiable. The old, physically challenged and destitute are denied the pensions, the only source of succor for them. Nobody in the administration is willing to explain why such a basic social service guarantee has been stopped which speaks volumes about the lack of accountability, the key requirement of the governance, he said, adding that this is because of the inherent arrogance and anti- poor mentality of the BJP.

He also spoke in length over the rising prices, saying inflation had hit hard the budget of the middle, lower middle and the poor segments of the society. The people in general have started feeling the magnitude of sufferings under the BJP as their destiny and they find themselves helpless to meet the challenges, especially in the wake of weakening the representative character of democracy.

All  channels between the people and the government stand snapped with bureaucracy calling the shots, he added.  Mr Sadhotra referred to the burgeoning unemployment problem and lack of vision in the administration to cope with the situation and said scams in the recruitment process has belied the  hopes of the job seekers.

They find themselves pushed to the wall due to governmental apathy and the policy paralysis of the BJP that had come to power on the promise of creating crores of jobs.  The scenario in J&K is all the more complex with no credible private sector in existence.

He said the government has deliberately derailed the employability process brought in by the National Conference dispensation between 2009 and 2014, which had generated hopes among the unemployed and the professionals.  Similarly, Mr Sadhotra said the daily wagers in various departments are craving for regularization for over a decade but the administration continues to remain in denial towards their legitimate grievances, as a result of which their families are taking to streets during these difficult times. The Former Minister also expressed concern over the damages caused to human life, property and crops due to incessant rains and flash flooding, demanding compensation for all those affected. Hundreds of people led by Mr Varinder Kumar Lakhotra joined National Conference.

Mr Sadhotra and other local leaders welcomed the new entrants and hoped they will work with zeal and dedication and stand by the common people who are feeling betrayed at this time.  Mr Varinder Lakhotra and other new entrants of Chak Lal Din assured the National Conference leadership that they will not leave any stone unturned to strengthen the party, its leadership Dr.  Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah and take programmes and policies of National Conference at every door step for the betterment of common people.
