Srinagar, May 02: National Conference (NC) Vice-President and former chief minister Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah Thursday alleged BJP of breaching Model Code of Conduct (MCC), and added that Election Commission of India (ECI) has failed to take action on it.

Talking to media persons after filing nomination papers at the Office of Returning Officer Baramulla, Omar Abdullah as per Kashmir News Service (KNS) alleged that ECI has given free hand to BJP who spreads hate and using religion to influence voters. “ECI has given free hand to BJP while as others are being told to strictly adhere to Model Code of Conduct (MCC). BJP star campaigners are repeatedly using religion in their speeches and are spreading hate to charge communal atmosphere across the country,” Omar said.

He said NC is yet against the decisions taken on August 05, 2019 and it is why today the party is seeking votes from people on the matter. “National Conference opposes the decision taken on August 5th, we're asking for votes to fight against it. Many of our friends stand with us on this, and we're seeing a good number of people joining our cause,” he said.

He added it is after a gap of twenty-years when I am filing nominations papers to take part in election, even in Jammu and Kashmir I’m filing nomination papers after a decade, which itself states how democracy flourishes in J&K.

“NC and INDIA bloc is fighting LS elections jointly in Jammu and Kashmir. We are hopeful our togetherness will bag all five seats in J&K, and one of Ladakh,” Omar stated. (KNS)
