Batpora, Langate residents decry drinking water shortage

Langate,Aug 17 (KNS): Residents of Batpora, Langate in north Kashmir’s Handwara on Monday complained that the area is without potable drinking water from last four months and the concern department is watching as mute spectator.
The residents told Kashmir News Service that they are being forced to fetch the water from nearby streams which poses them threat of water borne diseases; they further said that they have to walk miles to fetch the water.
Ghulam Rasool a resident of the village told that they have informed the concerned department several times but nothing has been done to provide the drinking water facility to the village.
Another resident of the area told that the only source of drinking water to the area was nallah mawer but due to continuous dragging of it the water level of the nallah got deceased and left large number of people to suffer.
The resident have appealed the authorities to provide the dirking water to the area at the earliest so that they will not face problem in times of coronaviurs.
However , when KNS tried to contact officials of jal Shakti department they could not be reached (KNS)
