Bar Association Uri Elects Adv Shamim Chalkoo Its New President

Uri, July 09 (KNS): Bar Association Uri on Thursday elected Advocate Shamim Chalkoo as its new president for the duration of two years while Advocate Toseal Ahmad as General Secretary.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), an extra-ordinary meeting was convened at Court Complex Uri by worthy members of Bar Association Uri for dilating and discussing some core issues concerning the Bar including the issue of presidential election which was overdue by afflux of time.

At the occasion, problems faced due to vacant post of presidential seat were thread bare discussed and debated. Moreover given to the epidemics of Covid-19, which has aggravated the situation, the process of presidential election was deemed sine qua non.

Majority of worthy members were present including Advocate Shamim Chalkoo, Advocate Hussain Khan, Advocate Aziz Akbar, Advocate Ashfaq Rasook, Advocate Basharat Sheikh, Advocate Toseal Ahmad, Advocate Shabir Mangral, Advocate Shabir Mir and others, while three worthy members abstained from the meeting.

After dilating upon the issues the Coram unanimously elected Advocate Shamim Chalkoo for presidential post for the duration of two years while Advocate Toseal Ahmad was elected as General Secretary and Advocate Hussain Ahmad Khan was elected as Treasurer.

At this juncture, the resolution was passed unanimously and all worthy members extended their good wishes and support to the newly elected president and body and resolved to work for the welfare of populace in general and for Bar Association Uri in particular. (KNS)
