Banihal March 22 :(KNS)  A youth deputation lead by Aakil Wani, Aamir Wani, Irshad Wani, Mir Junaid comprising of prominent young and budding cricketers of Banihal called on National Conference Leader and District President, Ramban Haji Sajjad Shaheen at his residence in Banihal today and complained that a playing field at Lamber was used by the young aspiring cricketers of Banihal as playground for the last eight years but the administration has constructed some tin sheds for the purpose of Covid-19 testing last year over the playing field, leaving sports lovers in vanquishing and has hampered sports activities in the area.

 

They informed the leader that the young cricketers had prepared a cricketing turf from their own resources so that aspiring cricketers could avail the facility in their area.

 

Taking cognizance of the matter the district President immediately brought the matter in the notice of District Development Commissioner Ramban and sought his intervention in the matter so that the grievances of the youth could be addressed. 

 

While throwing his weight behind the genuine demand of the local youth, Shaheen said the Banihal has a great sports potential and assured them that he would do everything possible to support and provide the youth basic sports facilities

like playground so that they could continue to use it for sports activities.

 

Shaheen has appealed to JK's LG Mr Manoj Sinha to personally look into the matter related to demand of construction of play ground at Lamber, Banihal at an earliest. He has also urged upon the LG Administration to prioritise on the need of raising sports infrastructure and various sports equipments at rural areas which will facilitate the participation and enhance the skills of sports persons from J&K.

 

He said that the youth of district Ramban is blessed with lot of potential and talent which needs to be properly groomed so that they can compete at national and international level for which the stakeholders have to play a key role in not only identifying such talent but help in achieving the objective of overall development of youngsters and generate awareness among them about the need of sports in their development.(KNS)
