Kupwara, Jan 01 (KNS): In first of its kind, Bangus Ecotourism Development Society (BEDSO) hosted a new year event at Rishiwari Langate wherein scores of tourists mainly from local areas turned up at the venue to enjoy the night event which included activities like music, campfire, lightshow etc.

According to KNS, the Forest Department had made arrangements for the tourists and had provided boarding and lodging facility.

The visitors were enthralled with the events and appreciated the arrangements made by the organizers on the eve of new year. They appreciated the efforts put by Coordinator BEDSO Aijaz Ahmed Lone in organizing and managing the event.

The Conservator of Forests Irfan Rasool told KNS that we are promoting destinations in north Kashmir for ecotourism purpose. "We urge people to visit Bangus and its adjoining areas during winter months and enjoy its natural beauty without damaging or disturbing the habitat", he said ad added "More events will be organized in future as well".

Meanwhile, locals hailed the event and expressed satisfaction that such programmes will pave the way for development of Bangus as world class ecotourism destination in near future. (KNS)
