SRINAGAR, AUGUST 05 (KNS) : Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, on Wednesday said that the constitutional changes of August 5, 2019, paved the way for lasting peace and freedom from a prolonged spell of bloodshed in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued, participating in the Bharatiya Janata Party's event to mark the August 5 complete merger day in Srinagar, Dr Andrabi said that, in the garb of Special Status, local political parties had promoted separatism and unrest in Jammu and Kashmir for decades.

"These political parties are responsible for the killing of thousands of innocents who lost their lives because of their politics of exploitation and division. Now after the abrogation of Article 370, we got freedom from violence and bloodshed.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWe are now on the path of peace and development in J&K," she said.

Responding to a question regarding the demand for the restoration of Special Status by local political parties, Dr Andrabi said that the Parliament of India had taken the decision and that it was irreversible.

"Fooling people by playing old records will yield no results. J&K doesn't deserve to be dragged to the separatist outlook. Every citizen of J&K is a proud Indian having equal rights and opportunities in this great growing nation," she said.

Dr Andrabi also thanked the Prime Minister for fulfilling his promise to the people of Jammu and Kashmir regarding the restoration of lasting peace and ushering in an era of development and growth.(KNS)
