Army provides assistance in fire fighting ops in Baramulla

Baramulla March 20 (KNS) : The army on Sunday put it's men and machinery to douse the flames in North Kashmir's Baramulla. 


Reports reaching here said that a massive fire engulfed house of Mr Manzoor Ahmed Shala R/o Arampora Mohalla, Old Town Baramulla. The affected house caught fire at around 0700h on 20 Mar 2023. On noticing the smoke rising, a QRT from Bagh-e-Islam COB under. 


Maj Omkar Bhandigare immediately rushed to the spot and fire brigade was intimated simultaneously. Total two fire tenders of Fire Department and one Water bowsers of Army also rushed to the spot to avoid the further spread of fire to adjacent houses as locality is very congested. Cause of fire is being told as short circuit in internal wiring of the affected house. 

This has incident has left all family members homeless but there was no damage to any life in this incident. However huge material losses have been suffered by the families. Due to timely action by Armed Forces and Civil Administration, a major incident was averted. Fire was controlled from spreading further and dozed off successfully within 10-15 minutes.

Locals applauded the efforts of Army in taking control of situation in time and commended the invaluable contribution in containing and dozing the fire.

Efforts are also being put in to provide aid to the affected families as a relief in terms of medical aid and ration supplies and bedding. (KNS)
