Armies of India, Pakistan exchange sweets at LoC on occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr

Kupwara, 13 May (KNS) :To mark the pious occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr the Indian Army and Pakistan Army celebrated Eid-Ul-Fitr on the Line of Control (LoC) at Teethwal Crossing Point in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS) armies of both the countries exchanged sweets and compliments with the representatives of their counterpart in an atmosphere of bonhomie and festivities.

The bridge at Teetwal has been a key enabler for such peace meetings. The newly achieved calm along the LoC as a result of ceasefire agreement has brought warmth which has been displayed on several occasions between the two neighbours. Exchange of inadvertently crossed over youth on three occasions in the last two months at the zero line in Teetwal have been high points of the prevalent peace along the LoC.

The sweet exchange is a gesture appreciated by both countries and is expected to go a long way in promoting peace, harmony and compassion in the true spirit of the festival with a hope of better future ahead. 

Local people on either sides also termed this gestures are deemed to foster peace and harmony which in turn will bring succour to the population living along the borders and promote prosperity and happiness and expected to go a long way in promoting peace, harmony and compassion in the true spirit of the festival.

The ceremony is seen as a confidence building measure in the backdrop of recently agreed ceasefire between both the countries.

The gesture was appreciated by both the armies and expected to promote goodwill and mutual trust, said the spokesperson.(KNS)
